{"id":2094,"date":"2024-04-01T08:02:07","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T08:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mainmind.com\/blog\/?p=2094"},"modified":"2024-05-15T07:29:54","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T07:29:54","slug":"raid5-smart-path-vs-cache-en-discos-sas-ssd-y-hdd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mainmind.com\/blog\/raid5-smart-path-vs-cache-en-discos-sas-ssd-y-hdd\/","title":{"rendered":"RAID5: smart path vs. cach\u00e9 en discos SAS SSD y HDD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Las controladoras smart array de Hewlett Packard Enterprise tienen diferentes opciones de configuraci\u00f3n, dependiendo del sistema las opciones por defecto pueden suponer un deterioro del rendimiento&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomamos como base para las pruebas un servidor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpe.com\/psnow\/doc\/a50002559enw?jumpid=in_hpesitesearch\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hpe.com\/psnow\/doc\/a50002559enw?jumpid=in_hpesitesearch\">HPE Proliant DL360 Gen10<\/a> (P06453-B21) con controladora Smart Array P408i-a SR (836260-001) con 2 GB de cach\u00e9, bater\u00eda y 8 l\u00edneas SAS en 2 puertos internos. Esto nos vendr\u00e1 bien para los test, ya que vamos a utilizar 4 discos SAS 10K de 1.2 TB (876938-002) en un puerto contra 4 discos SAS SSD de 800 GB 12G (P19913-B21) en el otro puerto. Ambos configurados en RAID 5 (256 KiB \/ 512 KiB) sin cach\u00e9 de escritura habilitada e inicializados correctamente:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"672\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainmind.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/hpe_smartarray\/P408i-a_Gen10.jpg\" alt=\"P408i a_Gen10 sobre hpe_smartarray\" class=\"wp-image-2096\" style=\"width:482px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mainmind.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/hpe_smartarray\/P408i-a_Gen10.jpg 672w, https:\/\/www.mainmind.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/hpe_smartarray\/P408i-a_Gen10-300x256.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>NOTA<\/em><\/strong>: al crear por primera vez el RAID, el c\u00e1lculo de paridad se a\u00f1ade en cola, dependiendo de la configuraci\u00f3n de la controladora puede tardar en iniciar y terminar el proceso, adem\u00e1s se deben escribir datos sobre la unidad para comenzar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El sistema operativo Windows Server 2019 est\u00e1 actualmente sobre los discos SAS, esta comparativa no busca el detalle con ciertos par\u00e1metros que para otros sistemas deber\u00edan tenerse m\u00e1s en cuenta, sino la configuraci\u00f3n por defecto y la recomendada en estas situaciones. Los drivers, software, firmware est\u00e1n actualizados con el \u00faltimo <a href=\"https:\/\/support.hpe.com\/connect\/s\/product?language=es&amp;cep=on&amp;kmpmoid=1010007891&amp;tab=driversAndSoftware\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/support.hpe.com\/connect\/s\/product?language=es&amp;cep=on&amp;kmpmoid=1010007891&amp;tab=driversAndSoftware\">Service Pack para ProLian<\/a>t (SPP) disponible en marzo de 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al realizar la copia de archivos inicial era lenta&#8230; esto no deber\u00eda pasar con discos de estado s\u00f3lido frente a los antiguos SAS de 10.000 rpm&#8230; as\u00ed que realizamos pruebas de rendimiento&#8230; Preguntamos al soporte de HPE si exist\u00eda una herramienta oficial para medir en estos entornos&#8230; a lo que nos deriv\u00f3 a herramientas de terceros sin comentar ninguna en concreto&#8230; Inicialmente probamos con <a href=\"https:\/\/crystalmark.info\/en\/software\/crystaldiskmark\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/crystalmark.info\/en\/software\/crystaldiskmark\/\">CrystalDiskMark<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atto.com\/disk-benchmark\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.atto.com\/disk-benchmark\/\">ATTO disk benchmark<\/a> y <a href=\"http:\/\/ismyhdok.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/ismyhdok.com\/\">IsMyHdOk<\/a>. Aprovecho para especificar que los discos SSD son Mixed Use (MU) de entre todos los posibles, me repito, en otros entornos se debe evaluar en detalle las opciones disponibles. HPE implementa la funcionalidad Smart Path y la activa por defecto para los SSD&#8230; veamos si desactiv\u00e1ndolo&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex este entorno pero todav\u00eda muy lejos de los discos mec\u00e1nicos&#8230; al desactivar Smart Path se vuelve a habilitar la cache para el vol\u00famen pero es necesario hacerlo manualmente, (P21440-421) con controladora S100i SR Gen 10 sin cach\u00e9 y discos SATA SSD Read Intensive 6G (8P18422-B21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex
